JOB OVERVIEW

Hello! Please only apply if you have at least 2+ years of video editing experience.

ABOUT US:

Indy Bindy is home to the Indy Bindy Sewciety, our online sewing academy (membership), Indy Bindy Fabrics, an online store specialising in independent designer fabrics from Japan and the Indy Bindy Mastermind, a small group mentoring experience for creative business owners.

We are passionate about inspiring and supporting sewists throughout their sewing journey by providing a nurturing and fun community as well as unique fabrics, so that they feel creatively fulfilled and show up as their best selves. We believe strongly in the power of community and are driven to guide other creative business owners to create a business and a life they love by sharing our experience.

We are an exciting small business, and we are moving into a period of growth!

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and creative video editor who can help bring our sewing tutorials and training videos to life. Your main role will be to edit raw footage into clean, engaging, and professional-quality videos that are informative and visually inviting—especially for beginner to intermediate sewists.

These videos will primarily be used within the Indy Bindy Sewciety, our online sewing academy, to support members in their learning journey.

This is a project-based, contractor position with flexible hours. The videos are released most months in the year. I am looking for a long-term video editor depending on the ability to complete the following responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Edit clips of raw footage into a professional training video (length varies according to the training topic)

- Incorporate title cards, transitions, image overlays, light background music (where appropriate), and minimal on-screen text (e.g., keywords, label types, supplies)

- Enhance visual clarity of demonstrations (zoom-ins or circles to focus attention or highlight, where helpful)

- Enhance visual interest of footage (slide talking head footage to the side of incoming text, zoom-in or out)

- Sync visuals to the host’s dialogue based on the script

- Clean up audio and remove background noise, pauses or filler words

- Follow creative cues from the script and training document to maintain tone and flow

- Add subtitles to final edited video

- Deliver both a high-resolution final version and a compressed web-ready version

YOU'LL BE PROVIDED WITH:

A detailed training script and outline
All video footage via Google Drive
Editing notes and references
Example videos for inspiration (if needed)

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

- Proven experience in video editing (portfolio required)

- Comfortable editing educational/tutorial content

- Proficient with Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar

- Basic audio editing skills

- Creative flair with attention to instructional clarity

- Exceptional communication, interpersonal skills and highly responsive

- Excellent time management, efficiency and reliability

-Bonus: Experience with craft/sewing/lifestyle content

TIMELINE:
Project start: ASAP

First draft due: Within 7 days of receiving footage

Final version: Within 2 days of receiving feedback

Some months, the videos will require a much quicker turn around
