English Essay and Assignment Marker

We're seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented English language specialist to provide feedback and assessment on student essays and written assignments. This role requires strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide constructive feedback to help students improve their English writing abilities. You will be following an established marking protocol with the help of AI, but must have the skills necessary to correct the frequent mistakes made by the software.

Responsibilities:

- Grade and provide detailed feedback on English essays and written assignments, with the help of AI
- Identify grammar, syntax, vocabulary, and stylistic improvements
- Offer constructive criticism that helps students develop their writing skills
- Track student progress and identify recurring issues
- Maintain consistent grading standards
- Return marked assignments within agreed timeframes

Required Qualifications:

- Ideally a Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or related field
- Excellent command of English grammar, composition, and academic writing
- Experience marking or assessing student writing
- Strong attention to detail and consistency in feedback
- Ability to explain writing concepts clearly to developing writers

Preferred Qualifications:

- ESL/EFL teaching experience, particularly focused on writing skills
- Experience working with student 7-14 years old
- Familiarity with common ESL writing challenges and effective remediation
- Understanding of different writing styles and academic requirements

Schedule:
Regular workload: 5-10 hours per week during regular academic periods
Increased workload: 15-20 hours per week during peak periods (July, August, and February)
Flexible scheduling with advance notice of busier periods
