JOB OVERVIEW

I create journalistic video content that educates and inspires viewers about culture, economics and the environment (think National Geographic style of content). The work spans web-documentaries, online courses, and social media content.

Responsibilities:

- Create shorter social media clips, either originally shot or repurposed from longer content
- Collaborate on storytelling approach and pacing decisions
- Source and integrate appropriate music, sound effects, and graphics
- Maintain consistent brand style across all content

Required Qualifications:

- Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects
- Experience editing documentary or educational content (or at least an enthusiasm to learn if you are new to the industry!)
- Strong sense of pacing, color grading, and audio mixing
- Portfolio demonstrating storytelling ability through editing
- Comfortable working directly with me and the content I film (no AI voiceover, limited stock)
- Curious mindset and interest in the world. I want to learn from you too!

Bonus Qualifications:

- Animation skills (motion graphics, explainers)
- Experience with Canva for supplementary design work
- Familiarity with Chinese social media, especially XiaoHongShu (RedNote)
- Ideal candidate is in an Asian timezone

What I Offer:

- Compensation range: $6-12USD/hr, with opportunity for growth
- Flexible remote work arrangement
- Potential for full-time position for the right candidate
- Work on meaningful, educational content, not boring advertisement drivel
- An outlet for someone creative. I want you to be able to use this job to experiment with your editing, explore your ideas and learn new skills.
