Job Summary:
As a Comedy Copywriter, you’ll be the brain behind punchlines that sell. You’ll write scripts, headlines, social copy, and branded content that blend marketing savvy with comedic timing. Whether it’s a viral video or a TikTok campaign, you’ll craft copy that gets noticed, shared, and remembered.
Key Responsibilities:
Conceptualize and craft comedic campaigns that align with brand strategy and creative briefs.
Write clever, engaging copy for scripts, social media, digital ads, web content, print, and more.
Collaborate with creative directors and producers to bring ideas to life through words and visuals.
Translate abstract ideas into punchy headlines, smart taglines, and compelling campaign narratives.
Develop recurring content formats, comedic series concepts, or character-driven stories for branded entertainment.
Help brainstorm and pitch fresh campaign ideas in internal meetings and client presentations.
Participate in (and sometimes lead) creative workshops, improv sessions, or brainstorms designed to generate humorous concepts.
Research brand voice and audience to fine-tune tone and comedic style.
Contribute to scriptwriting for video shoots, including treatments, voiceover lines, and on-screen text.
Collaborate with production and post-production teams to ensure comedic timing lands in final executions.
Respond quickly to cultural
Review campaign analytics or performance metrics to understand what types of humor resonate and iterate accordingly.
Proofread and self-edit to ensure clarity, brand alignment, and joke quality.
Stay current with trends in comedy, advertising, pop culture, and internet humor to inform your work.
Qualifications:
2–5 years of copywriting experience in advertising, entertainment, or branded content (writing for comedy platforms or stand-up a big plus).
A strong portfolio showcasing comedic writing and storytelling.
Mastery of tone, rhythm, wordplay, and timing.
Ability to write tight, concise copy with personality and wit.
Team player who can give and receive feedback with good humor.
Familiarity with emerging platforms and how humor works on each.
