SEO Specialist - Australian Travel / Accommodation Startup

ABOUT US
Heartful is Australia's newest short-term accommodation booking platform, focused on facilitating short stays that are highly sustainable and/or inclusive/accessible. We launched in October, 2024 so are still in our very first year of operation.

POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a results-driven, efficient and experienced SEO Specialist to join our remote team in a full time capacity (6 hours per day, 5 days per week).

The ideal candidate will develop and implement strategies to increase organic traffic (and therefore drive bookings and revenue), improve search rankings and vastly enhance our online visibility.

This is a full-time remote position for candidates based in Indonesia, the Philippines, or Vietnam.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute comprehensive SEO strategies to drive organic traffic growth
- Conduct thorough keyword research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities
- Optimise website content, meta descriptions, title tags, and other on-page elements
- Work closely with our development team to implement technical SEO improvements
- Monitor website performance using analytics tools and prepare regular performance reports
- Stay current with SEO best practices, algorithm updates, and industry trends
- Collaborate with content creators to ensure all material is SEO-optimised
- Identify link-building opportunities and manage outreach campaigns
- Troubleshoot SEO issues and implement solutions
- Set measurable goals and track progress against KPIs

IDEAL PREREQUISITES
- 3-5 years of proven experience in SEO, preferably in the travel or technology sector
- Strong understanding of technical SEO, on-page optimisation, and off-page strategies such as email marketing, social media marketing, PR etc
- Experience working with the NextJS/React tech stack and an understanding of how this impacts SEO
- Proficiency in using third party SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, or similar
- Knowledge of structured data, schema markup, and mobile optimisation
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make strategic recommendations
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Digital Media, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)

PREFERRED (BUT NOT ESSENTIAL) QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in travel industry SEO
- Deep interest in sustainability, inclusion / accessibility and purpose-driven business
- Understanding of international SEO strategies
- Knowledge of content management systems
- Familiarity with A/B testing methodologies
- Experience with voice search optimisation
