Job Title: Xactimate Estimator – Mitigation & Reconstruction

Location: Chicago (remote)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Xactimate Estimator to support our water, fire, and mold restoration projects. This role is responsible for accurately scoping and preparing estimates using Xactimate for both mitigation and reconstruction services. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of restoration industry standards (IICRC S500/S520), insurance carrier requirements, and be skilled in communication and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed and accurate estimates in Xactimate online for water, fire, mold mitigation, and reconstruction projects.
Review field documentation, photos, moisture readings, and scope notes provided by project managers and technicians.
Coordinate with project managers and team leads to ensure scope accuracy and completeness.
Interpret and incorporate insurance adjuster notes, guidelines, and carrier-specific estimating requirements.
Submit and revise estimates as needed to facilitate claim approval and timely payment.
Maintain organized job files and support claim documentation with Encircle, Xcelerate, and other job management tools.
Collaborate with internal teams and third-party adjusters to resolve estimate discrepancies or scope disputes.
Stay updated on Xactimate price lists, estimating best practices, and insurance carrier expectations.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience creating Xactimate estimates in the restoration or insurance industry.
Proficiency in mitigation and reconstruction scoping (water, fire, mold, contents, demo, build-back).
Working knowledge of IICRC S500/S520, drying standards, and industry protocols.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
Ability to interpret scope documents, floor plans, and moisture maps.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with Encircle, Xcelerate, CoreLogic, Symbility, or other restoration software platforms is a plus.
IICRC certifications (WRT, FSRT, AMRT) are a plus but not required.
Compensation:
Gig Based Per Estimate options or part time and full time options
Bonus or commission structure available based on approved estimates
Flexible/remote work options available
