JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a detail-oriented and resourceful Heirship Researcher to support our oil and gas leasing operations. This role involves tracing heirs to mineral interests, identifying and contacting family members, and compiling thorough heirship reports. The ideal candidate is comfortable conducting online research, making phone calls (often to elderly individuals), and gathering detailed family information.

Responsibilities:

Conduct in-depth online research to identify heirs related to mineral ownership.

Make phone calls to potential heirs and family members to gather information and confirm relationships.

Locate and verify contact information using public records, social media, obituaries, genealogy sites, and county records.

Draft detailed heirship reports based on collected information.

Maintain organized documentation of all findings.

Draft or assist in drafting Affidavits of Heirship (preferred but not required).

Communicate clearly and respectfully, especially with elderly individuals, to build trust and gather accurate information.

Qualifications:

Excellent spoken and written English; clear, professional communication is essential.

Strong phone etiquette and interpersonal skills.

Experience with genealogy or legal heirship research is a plus.

Familiarity with oil and gas leasing or land title work is highly desirable.

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Competence using tools like ---------- , county clerk websites, and skip tracing tools.

Preferred Skills:

Experience drafting Affidavits of Heirship or working with legal land documents.

Background in landman work, genealogy, or legal research.
