Book Formatter (Microsoft Word) – Paperback Formatting for Amazon and Barnes & Noble

We are looking for a professional book formatter with proven experience using Microsoft Word to prepare nonfiction manuscripts for paperback printing on Amazon KDP and Barnes & Noble Press.

Position Details:

Part-time contract totaling 25 hours


Flat rate: $60

Potential for future work based on performance


Qualifications Required:

- Actual, verifiable experience formatting complete nonfiction books using Microsoft Word

- Familiarity with paperback publishing standards for Amazon KDP and Barnes & Noble

- Ability to correctly format trim size, page margins, page numbering, running headers/footers, section breaks, and embedded fonts

- Skilled in building front matter (title page, copyright, dedication, table of contents) and back matter (about the author, acknowledgments, references) to a professional standard

- Consistent use of styles, spacing, and formatting throughout the manuscript

- Final files must be delivered in Word and PDF, properly prepared for print without any formatting errors


Please note:
This role requires true experience in Microsoft Word formatting. We are not seeking someone who has only done this once or worked primarily in InDesign or other platforms. Only applicants with a strong track record of formatting professional print books in Word will be considered.


Preferred:

Experience formatting books between 30,000–60,000 words

Familiarity with layout best practices used in professionally published nonfiction books

Understanding of Chicago Manual of Style layout preferences
