YouTube Video Editor & Thumbnail Creator

About the Role
We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented YouTube Video Editor & Thumbnail Creator to join our team at The Timid Traveler. This is a full-time remote position for someone who lives and breathes YouTube content and knows how to make videos engaging, informative, and highly clickable, with minimal direction.
You will be responsible for editing compelling long-form and sometimes short videos (with a TikTok-style energy), creating eye-catching thumbnails, and delivering five to seven high-quality videos per week. Our ideal candidate understands what makes viewers stay, click, and share.

What You’ll Do:

Edit 1 to 2 engaging YouTube videos per 6-hour shift, 5 days per week

Pair completed voiceovers with dynamic visuals, stock footage, graphics, and transitions to produce high-retention videos

Match visuals perfectly to the voiceover using information from our video sheet (title, hook, tone, etc.)

Add animations, infographics, panning, captions, sound effects, and pacing that make content feel lively and modern

Create compelling, clickable thumbnails without needing extensive direction

Collaborate with your point of contact via Google Chat for regular updates; occasional meetings via Google Meet

Deliver all final video edits and thumbnails by Friday each week


Requirements

Proven experience editing YouTube-style content and creating thumbnails that drive clicks

Strong proficiency in digital video editing software

Fluent in English (spoken and written)

Ability to work independently with minimal oversight

Availability for a consistent 6-hour work shift with a 1-hour break

Comfortable using a time-tracking tool to ensure productivity

Must commit to long-term, exclusive work with The Timid Traveler (no juggling multiple jobs)

Willingness to sign a freelancer agreement


Submission Requirements

1 short video sample of your editing work

1 thumbnail sample that demonstrates your design and click-worthiness

Resume or portfolio showcasing relevant experience


Compensation & Payment Terms
Starting pay: $90+ per week
Paid weekly based on a fixed monthly salary
Example: $250/month × 12 months ÷ 52 weeks = Weekly salary
