Job Title: Bookkeeper (Xero Specialist, E-commerce Focus, UK VAT Knowledge)

As we grow, we are looking for a proactive and detail-focused Bookkeeper with Xero expertise and a strong understanding of UK VAT rules to manage and streamline our financial operations.

Role Overview:
You will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date and accurate financial records, supporting the day-to-day finance function of our e-commerce businesses. This includes managing platform sales data (e.g., Shopify, Amazon, Stripe, PayPal), reconciling bank and payment gateway transactions, preparing VAT returns, and supporting financial reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and update financial records in Xero for multiple e-commerce sales channels.
Reconcile bank accounts, payment gateways (e.g., Stripe, PayPal, Revolut), and merchant accounts.
Manage sales invoices, supplier invoices, staff expenses, and inventory purchases.
Prepare and submit accurate VAT returns (including Standard VAT, EC acquisitions, Reverse Charge where applicable).
Monitor cash flow and highlight any variances.
Assist with monthly management reporting, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
Support inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) tracking.
Liaise with external accountants and tax advisors when necessary.
Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
Suggest and implement process improvements to increase financial efficiency.
Requirements:

Proven experience as a Bookkeeper in an e-commerce environment (preferred).
Proficient in Xero accounting software.
Strong understanding of UK VAT rules, including cross-border transactions and digital services VAT where relevant.
Comfortable working with data exports from Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce, eBay, or similar platforms.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
AAT qualified (or equivalent), or qualified by experience.
Desirable:

Experience handling multi-currency accounts.
Familiarity with inventory management within Xero or integrated apps.
Knowledge of accounting integrations with Shopify, Amazon, or other marketplaces.
