JOB SUMMARY

Lotus Financial Solution a small U.S.-based financial services and HR firm seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Staff Accountant to join our team as a full-time contractor. The ideal candidate will support financial reporting, account reconciliation, journal entries, and budgeting efforts across multiple clients. This role requires strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of U.S. accounting practices, and the ability to work collaboratively and thrive in a remote, fast-paced environment. Experience working with U.S.-based small businesses is a plus. This position is remote and requires substantial overlap with Pacific Time (California, USA).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and general ledger maintenance for multiple clients using cloud-based software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero).
- Code and record transactions accurately, including accounts payable and receivable entries.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including payroll-related journal entries.
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
- Perform monthly close activities, including cost allocations, financial statement review, and account reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements and client reports.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and documentation.
- Assist with audits by compiling necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and relevant accounting regulations.
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal tea ---------- mbers; respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide insight and analysis of financial data to support client decision-making.
- Perform other accounting-related duties or ad hoc projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of accounting experience, ideally in a client-serving or consulting role.
- Proficiency in cloud-based accounting software, e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite, Xero, Ramp, ---------- or similar.
- Familiarity with project expense platforms (e.g., Ramp), payment systems (e.g., Wise, Bill), and payroll tools (e.g., Gusto).
- Competency with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and U.S. financial reporting principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with well-developed interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across time zones.
- CPA certification (or progress toward certification) is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / SCHEDULE / TOOLS

- Full-time contractor (40 hours per week).
- Must be available for meetings and communications during Pacific Time business hours or with significant overlap.
- Must have reliable high-speed internet.
- Communication and collaboration tools include Slack, Trello, Google Meet, and secure file sharing platforms.
