We are in the process of moving some of our partners to new websites. As part of the migration, we are having to audit their current websites and search performance to see how we can maintain and improve their rankings. Current process is outlined below.
We start by auditing current search performance, looking at keywords they’re ranking for already and making sure we have pages on the new site to keep these rankings.
We then look at keyword opportunities, looking at terms competitors are ranking for, with good volume that they don’t currently have pages for
We then create a keyword and content plan, mapping keywords to pages and creating the title, h1, meta description and page content.
We then populate the new website with this plan, once this is done, we know the url structure of the new website
Once we have the keyword plan and new sitemap, we then audit their current sitemaps, to create a redirect map, mapping pages, products, categories to the relevant places on the new website.
