My name is Monear Shaer, I’m a US-based independent filmmaker with over 150 family members trapped in the Gaza Strip...Having lost over 33 relatives in under two months...I urgently began production on a deeply-personal documentary titled: 'Gaza Is Our Home.' More than just a film, this project aims to transform hearts, unveiling the untold and heart-wrenching realities faced by my own family. My debut feature-length film has impacted communities across the nation, portraying just a fraction of the joy, agony, and humanity of my own family and all who call Gaza home, and it's purpose is much bigger than any Hollywood studio has ever aimed to create.
As a result of the media’s continued dehumanization of the beautiful people of Gaza, I am now aiming to counter the narrative on an even bigger scale which is why I am aiming to hire a sharp, creative, and driven individual who can help me expand my current national screening tour efforts as well to take on a leading role in the development of my sequel documentary in a flexible, yet immensely rewarding position under my wing.
I am seeking—not just as a video editor, but a true collaborator in the growth of this family of mine. I truly believe it's now more imperative than ever that the true reality and first hand experience of life in Gaza is shown to the world, and I am in need of someone who is equally passionate about justice, compassion, and shares the belief in the transformative power of storytelling to spotlight the raw pain of social injustices and human rights violations around the world.
This is not just a job—this is an invitation to join my family, and to become an integral part of something much bigger than just a film. In this role, you’ll have real creative input, the chance to shape something that will impact generations, and the opportunity to grow with a project that refuses to wait for permission by the mainstream industry.
I’m searching for someone who can wear multiple hats across video editing, creative storytelling, and virtual production support, with room to grow into a leading partner and collaborator in my media production pursuits.
I'm seeking someone who wants to shadow and work alongside me in these primary areas of production:
1.) Assist in taking on the lead for editing a variety of content for both my ongoing national screening tour and upcoming sequel film. This includes refining raw interview footage, public speeches, university lectures, traveling vlogs, organizing archiving key footages for future films, and any help in bringing to life these emotionally powerful stories.
2.) Creating long-form and short-form content for platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok—especially from my newly launched and rapidly emerging Twitch streaming channel, along with additional behind-the-scenes footage of screening impact tour, and the many live events I often pursue along with potential collaborative work with various creative artists leading this movement.
3.) Supporting post-production workflows—envisioning unique styles of compelling editing techniques to pursue, basic efforts of organizing assets, syncing footage, managing drives, and tracking progress for the various ongoing projects we will be pursuing.
4.) During critical organizing
5.) Bringing true creativity to the table: I’m not looking for someone to simply add emoticons and captions to a podcast 24/7—I want a genuine and caring soul who's been waiting for the opportunity to create work that centers truth, family, and dignity in storytelling. I'm seeking someone who deeply carries the belief that art has the power to transform hearts, eliminate cultural divides, and inspire meaningful social change for generations to come.
If this sounds like you — someone who thrives in all things creative, cares deeply about actual meaningful storytelling, and wants to be a part of a project that's directly saving the lives of countless victims suffering through a nightmare unlike the world has seen before—I’d be grateful to connect. Just simply send over your resume, any relevant work samples or links, and a small written letter on why this role fits you.
