CPA, Senior Accountant for Property Management Company

We’re a property management firm in search of a dedicated and experienced leader to head our accounting department. This role goes beyond that of a full-time, full-charge bookkeeper—it's a key leadership position within a four-person accounting team.

We’re looking for someone who brings not just experience, but a positive, “can-do” attitude and a desire to grow with us. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented, communicative, and has a strong background in real estate accounting.

Key Qualifications:

Positive, solution-oriented mindset

Solid experience in real estate (property management accounting is a big plus)

Prior experience managing accounting/bookkeeping teams

CPA (or equivalent) designation

Excellent organizational and communication skills

Strong familiarity with financial statements, especially balance sheets

Experience reconciling accounts

Availability to work five (5) full days per week

Core Responsibilities:

Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports and statements for 25+ properties

Oversee the full accounting cycle including bills, receipts, and reconciliations

Manage receivables and payables

Perform multiple bank account reconciliations

Coordinate with external accountants on tax matters

Handle internal bookkeeping and payroll for the firm

Prepare annual budgets and support payroll audits

Track water meter readings and commercial tenant reimbursements

Process annual property tax, water, and insurance payments

Manage intercompany reimbursements and transfers

Oversee yearly tax abatements and challenges

Handle credit card reimbursements

Process prevailing wage affidavits, DHCR & RPIE filings

Nice-to-Haves:

Familiarity with NYC-specific regulations and filings

Experience using Appfolio is a big plus
