We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team, overseeing daily financial tasks and ensuring our records are meticulously organized. This role is essential for supporting our finance team and contributing to our company's continued growth and success.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with monthly reporting tasks. This position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Financial Record Keeping: Record daily financial transactions and ensure the general ledger is up-to-date.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices, track payments, and manage collections to ensure timely and accurate transactions.
- Bank Reconciliations: Conduct regular bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
- Payroll Processing: Assist with payroll preparation and ensure employee payments are accurate and timely.
- Expense Tracking: Monitor company expenses and ensure all transactions are properly documented.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial statements, balance sheets, and profit and loss statements for review by the finance manager.
- Sales Tax Filings: Calculate and file sales tax returns in compliance with federal and state/provincial regulations.
- Assist with Year-End Procedures: Support the finance team in preparing documentation for annual audits and tax filings.
EDUCATION
Associate’s/Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a minimum 6 months of bookkeeping experience.
- Proficiency in Quickbooks is a MUST
- Experience with Real Estate (Canadian Real Estate, much better!) preferred but not required
- Must be available to work in Toronto-EST time zone
- Familiarity with Lonewolf is a plus
- Attention to Detail: Excellent accuracy and attention to detail, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and produce insightful reports.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with vendors, clients, and tea
- Understanding of Compliance: Familiarity with tax and regulatory compliance requirements for accurate record-keeping.
