Bubble.io Developer – AI-Powered Plumbing Estimator MVP

Overview:
We're building TradePro — an AI-powered estimating assistant designed for blue-collar professionals (primarily plumbers, eventually electricians and HVAC). The tool helps them build fast, accurate plumbing bids through a conversational chat experience, with support for document upload and automated analysis of project plans.

Our users are non-technical tradespeople — field-first, time-constrained, and not fluent in complex software. The product must feel simple, clear, and familiar, like texting a real estimator.

The MVP is already prototyped in Bubble.io and integrated with OpenAI’s GPT-4. We’re now hiring a developer to bring the first production-ready version to life.

Project Scope (What You’ll Build):
1. Conversational Estimating Chat (Core Feature)
Clean, mobile-friendly chat interface (like iMessage/Slack)

Messages saved as records in a Message data type

Auto-scroll to bottom, "TradePro is thinking..." placeholders

Conditional formatting (user vs. AI messages)

2. Project Management Flow
Home screen: list of existing bids and option to “Start New Bid”

Modal or popup form to create a new project:

Fields:

Project name

Short description

Upload multiple PDF files (building plans, fixture schedules, material specs, Labor Variables, etc.)

Uploaded documents are stored in Bubble and linked to the new project automatically

Once submitted, the user is redirected to the estimator chat with the project and files ready to use

Users can revisit and resume previous projects at any time

The file uploader must support multiple PDFs and clearly show upload status or file names during the creation flow.

TradePro needs to be able to access these documents as it converses with the user.

3. File Upload + Document Parsing (Core Feature)
Upload PDFs (blueprints, fixture schedules, spec sheets, etc.)

Files attached to the correct project

Store uploaded files securely in Bubble

Show file preview or list UI in the project view

PDF Chunking Logic:
Many PDFs will exceed GPT-4’s input limit (token size)

Build a backend workflow to:

Split uploaded PDFs by page or logical section

Convert pages to text (Bubble plugin or API)

Store each page as a separate record in a File Chunk data type

Later: feed pages into GPT one by one or summarize content

This workflow must be automated and user-friendly, with little or no manual intervention.

4. OpenAI GPT-4 Integration
Use Bubble’s API Connector to send chat prompts to OpenAI

Inject dynamic messages (user + system prompt)

Save GPT responses and display in chat

Prompt structure already written and tested

5. Stripe Payment Integration (Paywall)
Users must pay before accessing the tool

Integrate Stripe for one-time or subscription-based payment

Lock access until payment is successful

Store subscription status at user level

Protect core chat page + project tools behind payment wall

6. Admin + QA Features (Lightweight)
Admins can log in and review past chats

View uploaded files, user activity

Potential to export bids or chat history

7. This product needs to run quickly and be very responsive to the end user.

As we scale, this job would become a long-term project.

We're looking for a part-time developer (~20 hours/week), but flexible based on your speed and availability. We care more about quality and communication than raw hours.
