Legal Assistant – Empower Injury Law
Location: WFM/Remote
Type: Full-Time
Hours: 30-40/week

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Legal Assistant to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our legal processes.
Position Overview
As a Legal Assistant at Empower Injury Law, you will provide vital support to our attorneys, helping us deliver exceptional service to our clients. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and legal knowledge will be instrumental in assisting clients throughout their personal injury cases. You will be responsible for a variety of administrative, pre-litigation, litigation, and settlement-related tasks, ensuring that every case progresses efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
General Administrative:
-Perform administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and faxing.
-Setup, organize, and maintain client files.
-Maintain confidentiality of our clients and cases.
-Adhere to all law firm policies and procedures.
-Answer and direct phone calls.
-Track case expenses.
-Continuously update case management software.
-Save scanned mail to the appropriate location.
-Check-in on status of referred out cases.
-Provide responsive client communication and manage client issues.
-Research jury verdicts and maintain a jury verdict database.
-Maintain the law firm’s knowledge base regarding organizational contacts and procedures for records requests.
Intake:
-Review and process all potential new case leads from clients, law firms, lead companies, and clinics.
-Respond to potential client calls promptly.
-Collect essential data at first contact with potential clients.
-Follow up with potential clients to facilitate the sign-up process.
-Adhere to intake policies, procedures, and best practices.
Onboarding:
-Ensure all onboarding documents are processed, signed, and executed properly.
-Coordinate clinic appointments and medical treatment for new clients.
Pre-Litigation:
-Send letters of representation and open bodily injury insurance claims.
-Obtain police reports, ambulance reports, 911 records, autopsy reports, and other evidence to support clients’ claims.
-Communicate with clients regarding treatment status and upcoming appointments.
-Obtain medical records and bills.
-Review medical/billing records and enter relevant medical data and billing information into the firm’s case management system.
-Provide status updates to interested stakeholders (lien/funding providers).
-Report claims to Medicare/Medicaid
-Assist clients with obtaining medical care as needed.
Litigation:
-Draft and file basic court documents
-Obtain documents and information needed for discovery responses.
Settlement:
-Keep liens and outstanding medical bills updated.
-Prepare supporting documentation for settlement demands.
-Coordinate settlement demand drafting.
Qualifications:
-Client-Focused: You must consider exceeding client expectations a priority.
-Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills (English), including the ability to convey detailed and complex information clearly.
-Independence & Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues and investigate solutions.
-Adaptability: Capable of managing multiple priorities and adjusting to changing demands professionally.
