Permit & PTO Technician – Residential Solar

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized professional to handle both solar permit applications and PTO processes for our residential solar projects. This role is crucial in ensuring projects move smoothly through the permitting process and receive final approval for system activation.

As our Permit & PTO Technician, you will be responsible for preparing, submitting, tracking, and following up on permit applications with local jurisdictions and utilities. Strong communication skills and a deep understanding of solar permitting and interconnection requirements are essential for success in this role.

Schedule:

Full-Time: Monday - Friday
8 AM - 4 PM MST (40 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and submit permit applications for residential solar projects to AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction).
Monitor and track the status of permit applications, addressing any revisions or additional requirements.
Coordinate with city and county offices to ensure timely approvals.
Submit and manage PTO (Permission to Operate) applications with utility companies.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and installers to ensure seamless approval processes.
Maintain accurate records of application progress, approvals, and deadlines.
Communicate professionally with permitting offices and utility companies.

Requirements:

Experience in solar permitting and/or interconnection applications is required.
Familiarity with AHJ requirements and utility interconnection processes.
Ability to navigate and submit applications through online permitting and interconnection portals.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to track multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Reliable internet connection for remote work.
