Hey there,
We’re on the lookout for an organized, proactive, and all-around “jack-of-all-trades” assistant to help me and my co-owner run Backroom Comedy Club. We’re a fun, passionate, and sometimes a little volatile team (yes, I can be harsh when the pressure’s on). If you thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, love comedy, and can keep things running smoothly even when personalities get intense, this might be the perfect gig for you.
What You’ll Be Doing
Administrative Support:
Manage calendars,
Keep track of projects and ensure deadlines are met.
Project & Event Coordination:
Help coordinate shows, sponsorships, and private events.
Organize meetings, take notes, and follow up on action items.
Communication & Organization:
Serve as a liaison between us and the rest of the team.
Handle day-to-day logistics and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Tech & Tools Management:
Get comfortable with our systems (think FreshBooks, scheduling apps, etc.) and keep them updated.
Learn new tools quickly and assist others when needed.
General Support:
Be the calm, reliable voice that keeps the team focused—even when things get a bit crazy.
Take initiative and solve problems before they escalate.
Who We’re Looking For
Highly Organized: You can juggle multiple tasks without losing your cool.
Proactive & Self-Driven: You don’t wait around for instructions—you see what needs to be done and take action.
Thick-Skinned & Adaptable: You understand that passion sometimes means intensity, and you won’t take it personally.
Great Communicator: Clear, concise, and honest, both in writing and in conversation.
A Sense of Humor: Since we’re a comedy club, you need to appreciate and share our love for humor—even on hectic days.
Must Have Skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency in using basic office software
Adaptability to a fast-paced, sometimes unpredictable environment.
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
Nice to Have Skills
Experience with CRM systems like FreshBooks, Square, or similar.
Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Trello, Asana).
Experience with scheduling and communication platforms (e.g., Slack, Zoom).
Previous work in a startup or creative environment.
A background or strong interest in comedy and live events.
Creative problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
Why Join Us?
This isn’t your typical corporate assistant role. You’ll be at the heart of a creative, energetic, and sometimes unpredictable environment. You’ll help shape day-to-day operations while learning the ins and outs of the entertainment business. Plus, you’ll have the chance to work with passionate, driven individuals who live and breathe comedy.
If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves, bring your organizational prowess, and be a critical part of our success—even when things get a bit rough—then we want to hear from you!
Cheers,
Ariel Kagan
