JOB OVERVIEW

Job Summary
The Pre-Press and Graphic Designer is responsible for conceptualizing and executing creative designs while ensuring all files are technically prepared for efficient printing and production. This role blends artistic creativity with pre-press technical expertise to deliver high-quality visual materials aligned with client needs and company standards.

Job Responsibilities

Creative Design and Development
• Conceptualize, design, and execute creative projects, including flags, banners, signage, and other custom fabric products.
• Develop visual concepts, sketches, and digital mock-ups, presenting ideas confidently to clients and internal teams.
• Research and incorporate current design trends, color palettes, typography, and materials to create contemporary and industry-aligned designs.
• Create mood boards, prototypes, and presentation materials to effectively communicate design ideas.

Pre-Press Operations
• Prepare print-ready files using desktop publishing tools, ensuring accurate layouts, traps, and color separations.
• Perform file imposition for optimal press sheet layout and create offset printing plates using pre-press software and equipment.
• Set up files for variable data printing, merging databases, and conducting proofing and testing to ensure accuracy.
• Conduct press checks and apply color corrections to design files to meet quality standards.

Collaboration and Project Coordination
• Work closely with production, sales, and marketing teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment with branding and client requirements.
• Scope projects and venues as needed, providing time estimates for quotes and managing deadlines effectively.
• Revise designs based on feedback, ensuring client satisfaction while maintaining creative integrity.

Production and Quality Assurance
• Maintain and organize digital design libraries, ensuring assets are accessible and production-ready.
• Assist in maintaining pre-press equipment, performing minor repairs and adjustments as needed, and referring service needs to technicians.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, meeting company standards and exceeding client expectations.

Client Communication and Strategy
• Provide clients with creative solutions and advise on technical options to achieve communication and branding goals.
• Collaborate with clients to ensure their briefs are understood and executed accurately.
• Develop corporate communication strategies and provide creative input to secure new client business.

Administrative and Continuous Improvement
• Stay updated on advancements in design tools, software, and pre-press technologies.
• Maintain the Printing Services share folder by organizing and retrieving files and guiding clients on file submission processes.
• Contribute to the success of the department by participating in professional development opportunities and maintaining technical knowledge.

Key Qualifications

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in graphic design and pre-press operations or a similar role.

Technical Skills
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
• Strong knowledge of pre-press processes, file preparation, and variable data printing.
• Familiarity with RIP software, imposition tools, and offset printing equipment.

Soft Skills
• Strong creative and artistic abilities with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Physical Requirements
• Ability to perform basic maintenance on pre-press equipment.
• Occasionally required to lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
