Lawyer

I am a Canadian Surgeon searching for a lawyer for an in-house counsel position.

Ideal qualifications: experience in medical negligence, administrative law, tribunals, appeals, and judicial review
Required experience: civil litigation experience/ability to handle all phases of litigation from discovery through trial.

The job will include preparing and reviewing legal documents, coordinating actions with local counsel to minimize legal costs and turnaround time, and maintaining cloud-based legal files. Strong drafting and written and oral communication skills in English are necessary.

We are looking for someone highly focused and attentive to detail, a motivated self-starter with superior organizational and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects.

This is a full-time position. Please don't apply if you already have two other jobs -- you will not impress our existing team with halfhearted effort. The team currently has one full-time and one part-time lawyer and two regularly retained outside counsel. We generally hire based on a paid assignment of 1-2 weeks, and, if successful, a further 3-month paid onboarding period. We are at GMT -6. We anticipate you will start work at 8 am your local time (which is 6 pm for us). Most communication will be by email, but a few phone calls each week for coordination and planning will occur at 8 am your time.

Salary is commensurate with experience and productivity.
Familiarity with Canadian Law (or other common law legal systems) is a strong asset.
