We are seeking a highly organized and efficient Contract Bookkeeper to join our team on a part-time basis. This role requires a strong understanding of NZ accounting practices and proficiency in Xero accounting software. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and managing key bookkeeping tasks for a few hours each month. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper seeking a flexible, remote-friendly role.
Key Responsibilities:
Bank Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile bank statements with accounting records in Xero.
Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process invoices, track expenses and income, and manage accounts payable and receivable (volume may vary month to month).
GST Returns: Prepare and file accurate GST returns in accordance with NZ regulations.
Financial Reporting: Generate monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
Data Entry: Accurately input financial data into Xero.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, ideally within a New Zealand context.
- In-depth knowledge of NZ accounting practices and legislation.
- Advanced proficiency in Xero accounting software.
- Excellent data entry and accuracy skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
