SUMMARY
The Accounting Specialist analyses information, maintain complete and accurate records, assist with routine accounting duties, and provide prompt, courteous responses to inquiries or complaints from clients, vendors, and lenders. One should also be a skilled researcher and possess strong communication and computer skills.
To succeed as an Accounting Specialist, one should be committed to providing efficient, reliable support to accounting department members, other departments, and external parties. One should be trustworthy, thorough, and courteous with excellent time management skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Using documents to verify, record, and process transactions.
Maintaining accurate and complete records, including ledgers, journals, invoices, receipts, and information related to supplies and inventory.
Assisting the accounting department in daily, monthly, and annual activities, including generating financial reports, bank reconciliation, revenue reconciliation, preparing taxes, and assisting with audits and resolving discrepancies.
Entering invoices ( both domestic and overseas), supplier reconciliation etc
Communicating with clients to discuss account statuses, charges, or discrepancies.
Participating in ongoing education opportunities to learn about industry trends and developments, current financial legislation, and company policies and procedures.
Maintenance of accounting record and supporting information
Assist with any ad-hoc accounts tasks
SKILLS
Possess medium to advanced excel skills - V-look ups, pivot tables, sumifs, index and match etc.
Have extensive reconciliation experience in both simple and complex scenarios, including reconciliation of revenue and supplier invoices
Be able to complete bank reconciliations competently
Proven ability to function effectively as a team player, decision-maker and values confidentiality
Dynamic, Service-oriented, Honest, with a strong sense of responsibility and integrity
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills with high-level of attention to details
Must have a strong 2 years XERO accounting app experience
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
College graduate, preferably Commerce, Finance or Accountancy, CPA is a plus
Has extensive 2 – 4 years of solid experience in Financial and Management Accounting
Has relative experience and/or knowledge with Australian Accounting Standards
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Good health, eyesight and hearing are required.
This position will require some work to be rendered on extended hours and in some cases, on graveyard shift for completion of a project or to meet with clients and project stakeholders.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The duties and responsibilities of the position are essentially performed in a normal office environment.
This position does not require the employee to perform duties that will necessitate climbing/crawling or handling of light construction equipment. However, if the situation calls for functions to be carried out in that environment, it is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that all safety factors are in place and safety procedures are being followed.

WORK SCHEDULE
Primary: Day Shift, 5 days a week
Secondary: Other Shifts as the project or department’s mandate may require.
