We are looking for a full-time editor to join our writing academy. You will work with student compositions such as stories, essays, summaries, and critiques, from students in grades 3 to 8. The role requires dedication, consistency, and a passion for helping young learners improve their writing. This is a long-term position that plays a crucial role in supporting developing writers.
Responsibilities:
-Edit student compositions for clarity, grammar, and structure in line with assignment guidelines.
-Provide feedback and collaborate using Google Classroom, Google Docs, and Google Drive.
-You are free to work in your own time zone, as long as all assignments are completed and submitted by 9 a.m. EST the following day.
Qualifications:
-Strong command of English grammar and writing structure.
-Comfortable editing simple, repetitive, and occasionally silly or redundant content from young writers.
-A compassionate and patient approach, recognizing that editing children's writing differs from editing adult writing. ---Feedback should be constructive and encouraging.
-Proficiency in using Google Classroom, Google Docs, and Google Drive.
-Ability to work independently while asking questions when necessary, with a commitment to meeting deadlines.
Important Notes:
Training Period: The first few weeks will be intensive and time-consuming as you learn our expectations and become familiar with the style and language of young writers. This initial period may feel slow, but as you gain experience, tasks will become quicker and more efficient.
Workload: Daily tasks will vary depending on the number of scheduled classes and types of assignments. Some days may require more time and attention, while others will be quicker, offering a varied day-to-day experience.
Compensation:
-$300 CAD for the first month during the training period.
-$500 CAD per month paid bi-weekly during the probationary period, which ends when your work no longer requires review or revisions.
-Pay increases to $700 CAD after the probationary period, with room for compensation growth over time.
