We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant/Bookkeeper to oversee our day-to-day financial activities. This role will be responsible for managing payroll, maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and ensuring the accuracy of our financial data. Proficiency in QuickBooks is a must, as it is our primary accounting software. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and committed to supporting our agency’s mission through accurate financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Management:
Process payroll for both U.S.-based and international employees (including our team in the Philippines).
Ensure accurate and timely payment of wages and compliance with applicable tax regulations.
Handle payroll inquiries and resolve any payroll-related discrepancies.
Bookkeeping & Financial Record Keeping (QuickBooks Expert):
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using QuickBooks software.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and financial transactions within QuickBooks.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
Accounting & Budget Management:
Assist with financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
Monitor cash flow and help manage the agency’s financial health.
Ensure timely payment of bills and proper categorization of expenses.
Tax Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure compliance with tax laws and assist in the preparation of tax filings.
Work with our external tax professionals during tax season to provide necessary documentation.
Loan Management:
Keep track of our SBA loans and repayment schedules.
Ensure that loan payments are made on time and that all loan-related documentation is properly managed.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as an accountant or bookkeeper, with expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks software.
Strong knowledge of payroll systems, accounting principles, and bookkeeping best practices.
Experience with managing U.S. payroll and tax regulations, as well as international payroll.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in managing financials for an agency or service-based business.
Familiarity with the church sector or nonprofit financial management.
CPA certification or other relevant accounting qualifications (preferred but not required).
