Position Summary
The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with Canadian accounting standards, and supporting our finance team with a variety of accounting tasks. This role requires a thorough understanding of Canadian tax laws, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping: Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

General Ledger Management: Oversee journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments to the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Canadian GAAP.

Month-End and Year-End Closing: Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing financial reports and conducting audits as required.

Tax Compliance: Prepare tax returns and ensure compliance with Canadian federal and provincial tax regulations. Stay updated on tax changes and implement as needed.

Accounts Payable & Receivable: Oversee invoicing, payments, and collections, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with the finance team to create budgets and forecasts, providing insight into variances and financial performance.

Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and supporting the audit process.
Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement, providing recommendations for financial strategies.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA designation (or actively pursuing) is preferred.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience, with a focus on Canadian accounting practices.

Knowledge of Canadian Accounting Standards: Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP and tax regulations, with experience in preparing financial statements and tax returns.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or SAP) and Microsoft Excel. Experience with cloud-based financial systems is an asset.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize work effectively within a fast-paced environment.
