We’re a romance audiobook subscription platform looking for a full-stack developer. You’ll work directly with the technical co-founder, who built most of the existing tech, taking over some of the dev work.
**What We Offer:**
- Flexible working hours and fully remote work
- Young, laid-back co-founders
- A startup-like environment — no corporate-speak, meetings, or office politics
- A fun industry to work in
- You’ll mostly work on your own (a pro or a con, depending on your personality)
- You’ll build full products and won’t be a small cog in a big machine
**Tech Stack:**
- NextJS
- React
- Javascript
- Tailwind
- MySQL
- Python
- Flask APIs
- Node
- AWS
**Requirements:**
- Good understanding of the tech stack
- Knowledge of the full development cycle, including deployment
- Some experience with database design
- Some experience with product design
- Fluent in English
- Working fast and efficiently
- Willingness to work with romance audiobook material (think Wattpad but audio)
**The work:**
You’ll help develop both the product and some internal tools, build front-end pages, audio streaming functionality, and APIs; improve content browsing experience; design and build databases; build dashboards; improve existing code; and work together with the co-founders to design new features and products.
You should have a record of building and launching fully functional websites from scratch. While we don’t need you to be a DevOps master, we do expect you to handle some of the deployment.
We're pro-AI, but you still need to understand the tech you’re working with.
We offer plenty of freedom, but it comes with responsibility. If you're someone who spends two hours tweaking the perfect button style, this might not be the right fit for you (and yes, we will notice).
Bonus points if you come with some humble, witty banter, and sarcasm.
**What We Want to See in Your Application:**
- Proof that you’ve built stuff from start to finish
- You can work quickly and efficiently
- Personality. Little charm goes a long way
- Fluent English
**Do Not Apply for This Position If:**
- You love the structure that big corporations provide. We are a startup, which often means that done is better than perfect and there is some lack of documentation.
- You love working with big teams. We are small and remote, which means you probably won't love it here if you are a very social person and require coworkers to thrive :)
- You are NOT constantly seeking to grow and enhance your skills. We love to work with ambitious individuals.
**A few practical details:**
- We’ll kick things off with a one-month trial period, with no obligations. If at any point either of us feels it’s not the right fit, you’ll be fully compensated for your time, and we can part ways amicably.
**How to apply:**
Apply here and include answers to these questions (application won't be considered without these):
- Describe an app you've built from start to finish. Include the link if applicable. Explain the tech stack and how it works from the technical standpoint.
- When you work with other devs, what annoys you the most about their code?
- Why did you apply for this position?
