Australian Accounting firm is looking for an accountant with atleast 2 - 3 years of an Australian accounting firm experience.
This role is 100% work from home.
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Director of the firm, you will assist the accounting and finance team by performing clerical and administrative duties, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions, and supporting the smooth day-to-day operations of the finance department.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, management reports, and year-end financial reports.
• Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Prepare and submit BAS returns, tax filings, and other statutory financial reports.
General Ledger Support:
• Post journal entries and maintain accurate financial records.
• Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Maintain and update the general ledger as required.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
• Process invoices and payments.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts.
• Resolve discrepancies in billing and transactions.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Assist with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
• Provide analysis of variances between actuals and budgeted figures.
Auditing and Compliance:
• Prepare supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and company policies.
Expense Management:
• Process employee expense claims.
• Monitor and control the petty cash fund.
Data Entry and Record Keeping:
• Ensure accurate data entry into accounting systems.
• Maintain organized financial files and records.
Communication and Liaison:
• Liaise with vendors, clients, and other departments to resolve accounting-related queries.
• Collaborate with other teams to support business goals.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA/CA ANZ) preferred.
Experience:
• 8 – 10 years of relevant experience in an accounting or finance role.
Technical Skills:
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, MYOB, DEFT).
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
Soft Skills:
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
