Website, logo, and original web graphics design
12500/month
TBD
Aug 20, 2011
My small web design and marketing company is growing quickly and will soon have more work than I can personally handle or easily outsource on a project basis. I need a great designer that I can work with on an ongoing basis. Initially it would be project by project, but as I get busier, and decide on one person who I want to work with, will switch to an hourly or weekly/monthly salary-type position. Because this is a process of finding somebody that I will work with on an ongoing basis, please take more time than usual to review this job and provide an intelligent and careful response if you are interested.
I'm looking for somebody with excellent website as well as web software, web app, and user interface skills. In order to be considered, you'll also need to have great English communication skills. Plus an excellent understanding how to design great looking websites, create custom vector logos, icons and other graphics, and be good at user interface (UI) design, for online software and web-apps.
I have several upcoming projects, and will pick 2-4 designers to work with on these projects. Then as we complete each, I will select a single designer from among them to continue working with me in the future, based on their skills, knowledge, responsiveness, communication skills, and how well they work with me. I am a designer myself, but am getting too busy managing projects to be able to do all the design required.
Here are the requirements:
-Excellent English communication skills
-Experience creating several page templates for awesome looking websites of all different kinds.
-Experience creating custom graphics, logos, icons, charts, etc.
-Experience and knowledge of creating great user interfaces for web software or web apps.
-Experience working with and providing designs to, developers for making the design into a theme for common CMS software.
-Working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator.
-Ability to think for your self, and assertiveness to give me feedback or tell me when you feel differently.
-Honesty: it's absolutely imperative that you be completely honest with me. I have worked with far too many sub-contractors that are not honest and try to cover their mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes, I would much rather work with somebody who admits mistakes, claims responsibility and goes to work fixing them than someone who tries to cover up mistakes to try and look good.
-Open communication: this goes with honesty. I need somebody who I can be very open and honest with, and who will be very open and honest with me.
Some suggested skills/abilities:
-Basic coding abilities (HTML, CSS, etc - this is definitely NOT required, I would much rather have an excellent developer with no design skills than a mediocre dev with design skills).
-Knowledge of WordPress and updating pages, posts, widgets, etc.
-Ability to create motion graphics/animation a plus.
I need examples of your work. If you can't provide examples, I can't consider you as a prospect.
I need you to be open and honest right from the start. I'm looking for somebody who's abilities are very good, but who's price is quite low. If you'll tell me what you need to get by, then as my business continues to grow, I'll make sure you're well taken care of and you get paid more and more.
Please ask me questions about what kind of work I need done. Rather than me asking all the questions, I need you to be assertive and start asking me questions right now. Ask questions that will help you understand if you are properly qualified and if this is an opportunity that you would like to take.
