We are a New Zealand-based family-owned business seeking experience and expertise in procurement and inventory management. We import from Europe and Asia and sell primarily business to business, so our supply chain has many moving parts.
Are you a solutions-focused and improvements-driven person who could help us in this space? Can you work with the existing team to create a strategy to solve problems and increase efficiencies?
Role Objective;
Maximize inventory ROI and profitability by addressing overstocking, aging stock, long lead times, numerous line items, trend changes, and minimum volumes.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Optimization:
Prevent overstocking and reduce aging stock. Maintain optimal stock levels and improve turnover.
Procurement Efficiency:
Source cost-effective materials and negotiate favourable terms. Manage supplier relationships to reduce lead times.
Data-Driven Decisions:
Analyze inventory data to predict demand and adjust strategies. Use inventory management software for accuracy and efficiency.
Cost Management:
Implement cost-saving initiatives while ensuring product quality. Control procurement budgets to boost profitability.
Risk Mitigation:
Develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions. Update procurement policies to adapt to market changes.
Collaboration:
Work with sales and marketing to clear aging or obsolete stock. Lead continuous improvement projects and train tea
NZ-Based Manufacturing and Export Management:
Oversee NZ manufacturing for local distribution and export.
Coordinate logistics for LCL and FCL shipments to Australian customers.
Ensure compliance with export regulations and quality standards.
Optimize export processes to minimize costs and delivery times.
Challenges:
Small team - limited resources.
Mitigating overstocking and aging inventory risks.
Managing long lead times and timely replenishments.
Handling high volumes of line items efficiently.
Adapting to market trends and meeting minimum volume requirements.
Skills & Experience Required:
2 years + in procurement-based roles
Experience in management and leadership of procurement teams or decisions.
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Suite, especially in Excel or Google Sheets.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
Knowledge of market trends and supply chain management.
