Job Summary:
The Carrier Sales Representative is responsible for sourcing, securing, and managing relationships with carriers to facilitate the transportation of goods for clients. This role involves negotiating freight rates, coordinating shipments, and ensuring timely pick-up and delivery while maintaining a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Building Capacity:
Identify and establish relationships with carriers, including trucking companies, freight brokers, and third-party logistics providers.
Evaluate carrier capabilities, reliability, and performance to ensure alignment with client needs and service expectations.
Rate Negotiation:
Negotiate competitive freight rates with carriers to secure a better profit margin.
Analyze market trends, lane volumes, and supply-demand dynamics to optimize pricing strategies and maximize profitability.
Shipment Coordination:
Coordinate the scheduling, booking, and tracking of shipments with carriers to ensure on-time pickup and delivery.
Communicate proactively with carriers, clients, and internal stakeholders to provide status updates, resolve issues, and address concerns.
Monitor shipment progress, address delays or disruptions, and implement contingency plans as needed to minimize impact on service quality and delivery timelines.
