Are you ready to take your career to a charming island paradise? C & S West Medical Services Ltd., is seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Technologist to join their team in beautiful Bermuda. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, this role offers the perfect blend of professional challenge and island living.
As a Medical Technologist, you will conduct a variety of medical laboratory tests and procedures, analyze results, and collaborate closely with doctors and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards in medical testing and analysis. This role requires precision, expertise, and a commitment to excellence in the field of medical laboratory sciences.
Key Duties and Responsibilities include:
• Preparing biological samples for testing, including but not limited to tissue, blood, urine, spinal fluid, and respiratory specimens.
• Determining whether sample parameters fall within normal ranges and identifying abnormalities.
• Summarizing results and reporting findings in electronic format to referring physicians and medical specialists, as well as collaborating on patient care.
• Performing Quality Control, proficiency testing and related duties necessary for accreditation.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshoot when necessary.
• Develop, organize, and maintain electronic records required for Quality Assurance.
• Taking inventory of laboratory stock and supplies, as well as ordering replenishments.
• Adhering to best practices in medical laboratory sciences and keeping up with advancements in the field.
Required Education, Experience, Competencies and Skills include:
• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science; other BSc degrees will be considered in conjunction with ASCP, AIBMS or equivalent
• 10+ years Post-Graduate Bench exp in Clinical Microbiology.
• Must have extensive experience in Phlebotomy, demonstrating proficiency in venipuncture and sample collection techniques or a Phlebotomy certificate of competence/equivalent training
• In-depth working knowledge of medical laboratory equipment, techniques, tests, and procedures.
• Expertise in preparing and analyzing clinical samples.
• Proficiency in using laboratory information systems.
• Ability to manage and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Extensive experience in collaborating with healthcare providers and specialists.
· Ability to be a team leader and promote a healthy work environment.
• Ability to work unsupervised which demands a high degree of professional integrity.
• High attention to detail with strong written, verbal, and collaborative communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel applications.
• Demonstrates best practices and abreast of advancements in the field of laboratory sciences.
• Willingness and ability to work M-F shift and fulfill minimal weekend commitments dictated by shift.
• Experience in other lab disciplines would be an asset.
