We are seeking an experienced Virtual Bookkeeper/Xero Specialist to support various accounting tasks across four business entities (one parent, 4 subsidiaries). Duties will include management of customer invoicing and related accounts receivable process, monitoring and recording data flow into our general ledger software (Xero), documentation of all accounting tasks, organization, and filing of key accounting documents, analysis of accounting data for accuracy, reconciling various accounting systems, generating operational and financial reports, and completing any other tasks as required.
The ideal candidate is a team player with a proactive customer service mindset; someone who is detail-oriented, but still able to see the ‘big picture’ of what data is communicating to the organization; someone who enjoys learning every day and researching answers to new questions; and finally, someone interested in joining a company long-term to help us meet our ambitious long-term organizational goals.
Location: Remote
Wage/Salary Per Month: $300 - $1100/month
Desired No. Of Hours Per Week: a minimum of 15-20 hours per week, up to full-time
Responsibilities:
- Customer invoicing, Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payable (A/P), Inventory, and General Ledger management.
- Downloading and coding of bank/credit card feeds to Xero in a consistent and disciplined manner each week.
- Full reconciliation of bank and credit card accounts.
- Understanding of intercompany transaction flows and maintaining balanced accounts between companies.
- Experience in drafting and updating policies & procedures is a plus.
- Ability to manage regular tasks on a consistent schedule while handling non-routine special projects as required.
- Ability to effectively work with peers and executive management as a trusted and valued business partner.
- Create presentations as required.
- Comfortable with both transactional and higher-level work as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
- Proficiency in Xero (with Xero certification) required and experience with its external integrations preferred.
- Experience with Stripe is required.
- Experience with
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Experience with Gusto is preferred.
- Credentials comparable to a US CPA license are preferred, though not required.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
- Comfortable working in a fully remote environment.
- Ability to interact with colleagues, customers, and vendors in a professional manner via phone and video.
- Understanding of US federal and state tax concepts and compliance, including sales tax, payroll tax, and income tax.
- Comfortable learning new software and systems.
- Experienced in creating and streamlining processes and procedures.
- Basic writing skills for documentation and communication.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting or equivalent experience.
