JOB OVERVIEW:
The Technical Writer is responsible for writing technical proposals in response to Utility Industry Requests for Proposal (RFP). You will work independently to produce a compelling narrative that meets or exceeds requirements. You’ll meticulously read and research RFPs and RFIs to develop a complete bid response. You must have experience working independently and with U.S. government funding opportunities (Department of Energy).

This position is part-time hourly as-needed.

KEY TASKS:
Write coherent, organized, and compelling proposals.
Develop a coherent proposal and format relevant information and present technical information in support of business objectives.
Edit proposal drafts and check final proposal package for accuracy
Meet RFP deadlines.
Maintain templates to be used with future RFPs and follow all industry standards.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of three years of experience in technical writing and editing.
Prior experience as a proposal writer working in the electric utility industry.
Bachelor's degree or comparable work history in technical writing, journalism, communications, public relations, grant writing. Engineering/technical degrees considered with appropriate technical writing experience.
Strong time management and project management skills to meet RFP requirements within strict deadlines.
Organizational ability to respond to multiple RFP responses at once.
Experience as a proposal coordinator is preferred.
Detail oriented - follow rules and requirements to the letter that may vary from customer to customer.
Ability to write technical narratives in support of business objectives. Present technical information in a way that non-technical decision makers can understand overarching concepts and value proposition.
Working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
