We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Coordinator/Permit Specialist to join our team, specializing in solar permit submission, main panel upgrades (MPU), interconnection, and final inspection processes. This role demands excellent communication skills and a deep familiarity with local jurisdiction codes in California, recognizing that each city has its unique requirements for submitting project plan sets.
Responsibilities:
1. HOA Coordination:
- Gather information from homeowner associations (HOAs).
- Contact HOAs to obtain forms and submission requirements.
- Facilitate the signing of forms by homeowners and submit HOA applications.
- Monitor and follow up on application status and approvals.
- Coordinate meter spots with utility companies.
- Manage the completion follow-up, DISCO/RECO scheduling with utilities, and city inspections.
- Investigate permit processes and requirements with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
- Prepare necessary forms and documentation for permitting.
- Work closely with the design team for the completion and revision of plansets.
- Liaise with engineering for calculations and stamps as needed.
- Oversee permit submission and follow up on approvals.
- Handle permit payment processes.
- Arrange final inspections with city or county officials.
- Keep track of inspection timelines and gather signed inspection job cards.
- Coordinate with the design team for any necessary revisions and re-permitting.
- Compile documents required for interconnection applications.
- Assist homeowners with signing pre-filled application forms.
- Submit applications to utilities and manage interconnection payments.
2. Additional Administrative Tasks:
- Ensure proper documentation and updates are maintained in CRM systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sunbased, Monday, Jobnimbus, ZOHO CRM).
- Maintain effective communication and relationships with contractors, sales teams, and internal tea
3. Key Qualifications:
- Profound knowledge of and experience with the intake and permitting departments, working collaboratively to prepare complete plan sets for project submission to the city for AHJ approval.
- Expertise in California’s local jurisdiction codes, with an ability to navigate the unique requirements of each city for project or plan set submissions.
- Ability to set and achieve daily goals while efficiently managing pressure.
4. Requirements:
- 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in planning, organizing, and coordinating activities in the construction industry.
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
- Motivated self-starter.
- Great organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word is an absolute must.
- Ability to handle pressure calmly with cross-functional team and external parties.
- Must be able to solve problems and deal with a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment
