The YouTube channel is research-driven, covering East Asian society, culture, and “why it works like that” systems-level explanations (China, Japan, Korea). I’m hiring a scriptwriter to help produce documentary-style videos with clear storytelling, strong structure, and rigorous sourcing.
Work schedule (mandatory)
-You must be available 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM Manila time, Monday to Friday.
-This overlap is required so I can connect with you in my Mountain Time (MST) evenings as needed.
What you will do
-Collaborate with me to write, edit, and proofread long-form YouTube documentary scripts to match the channel’s tone and pacing.
-Research and support claims with credible sources, and correct where necessary
-Create a clean source list (links) and clearly mark which lines/sections each source supports.
-Provide “editor notes” to help the video editor (b-roll ideas, on-screen text, charts/graphics suggestions, and key timestamps/beats).
-Use AI tools (Claude and Subscribr.ai preferred), but you are accountable for accuracy, originality, and voice match.
-Manually fact-check any AI-assisted output before submitting.
Deliverables
-Google Doc script with clear headings and sections
-Google Doc prepared for teleprompter use
-Separate Sources section with links
-Separate Editor Notes section (visual suggestions + on-screen text + data visualization ideas)
-Revisions based on feedback.
Must-haves
-Excellent written English (spoken English is required if you will join calls).
-Strong interest or familiarity with East Asian culture and society (Chinese, Japanese, Korean contexts).
-Research competence and comfort reading/reporting from reputable sources.
-Self-starter. Reliable. Can work independently and hit deadlines.
-Coachable. You can receive feedback and implement it quickly.
-Social science background is strongly preferred (sociology, psychology, economics, anthropology, etc.), but equivalent portfolio experience is acceptable.
How to apply
Please include:
-2–3 writing samples (documentary scripts or research-heavy articles preferred)
-A short note on your experience researching for documentary channels or equivalent
-Your workflow (what you use and how you verify facts)
-Confirmation you can work 8 AM–2 PM Manila time
-Shortlisted applicants may be asked to do a paid test task (hook + outline + sample section + sources).
