JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for skilled Node.js backend developers who have experience writing Express apps, microservices, and other backend systems using JavaScript and TypeScript.

We are a boutique website agency. We provide premium website hosting services, primarily based on WordPress and Node.js, as well as automation and integration platforms and other advanced tools and services.

This position requires you to write code primarily using Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript, and communicating with relational databases like MySQL and PostgreSQL. We use various version of Node.js for both internal and customer systems, as well as Nuxt and Vue.js. Some systems run on traditional VPSs and others on Docker and Kubernetes deployed to different clouds.

This is a remote position, is very technical in nature, and you will not be required to communicate directly with customers. We provide some training and are always improving our processes but ultimately, you should be able to work independently and deliver high-quality work under minimum supervision. Attention to detail is mandatory.

A strong Internet connection and experience using communication tools like Slack is required.

This is a long term freelance position. The position will start with about 10 hours per week and will likely grow over time.

Responsibilities:

- Develop backend systems using Node.js
- Write code using JavaScript and TypeScript
- Debug and fix existing apps and write new ones
- Communicate with RDMSs and third-party APIs
- Communicate effectively with the team

Requirements:

- Proven experience and expertise as a Node.js developer
- JavaScript and TypeScript
- HTML and CSS
- MySQL and PostgreSQL
- Git
- Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with Nginx is a plus
- Experience with tools like Notion/Airtable and Make/Zapier is a plus (but not mandatory)
- Familiarity with basic security and web-related concepts and technologies, such as http, ssl, ssh, and ftp is a plus (but not mandatory)
- Excellent time management skills
- Attention to detail
- Solid organizational skills
