Mechanical Drafter - Solid Works

we design and manufacture precision cutting machines and grinding and polishing machines
we are looking for experienced mechanical drafter or engineer to draw parts, assemblies and sub-assemblies
lot of the drawing will be drawn by hand and you would need to draw them in solid works
candidate would work with our chief engineer on day to day basis through sharing of screen and zoom when needed

DAY TO DAY ACTIVITIES:

- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies/tools, and controls, using Solid Works
- Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
- Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
- Position instructions and comments onto drawings.
- Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Draw 3D & 2D drawings of parts based on hand sketches provided by engineering department using Solid Works

- Create Assemblies List and Bill of Materials

- Work & interface with Engineering & manufacturing personnel in updating existing drawings

- Work with parts vendors and assist in ordering from existing vendors and identifying possible new vendors for parts

- Assistance in purchasing needed parts and components (if needed)

SKILLS NEEDED:

- Solid Works Professional

- Excellent attention to detail

- Good oral and written communication skills

- Familiarity with Mechanical component catalogs (finding parts)

- Online Research

- ability to type at least 20 words per minute

REQUIREMENTS:

position requires wearing of many hats, several skill sets, self direction and motivation, working a part of a small, highly experienced and successful team

EXPERIENCE LEVEL:

- At least 2 years of experience (however candidates with less experience will be considered if they can do the job)

SALARY/COMPENSATION:
