New City Contracting is seeking an experienced?Estimator. This position demands accountability for producing detailed, accurate estimates and offers opportunities for leadership in growing the estimating team. Responsibilities:

Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full-cost estimates on general tender work using the Sage 300 Estimating Module.
Prepare materials, labor, and equipment cost estimations necessary to successfully carry out a project according to proposals, plans, estimates, and specifications.
Perform bid day assignments, Soliciting bids from subcontractors and suppliers, Prepare and negotiating subcontracts
Obtain competitive material & equipment prices for all tenders/pursuits, specific to each Upgrade to see actual infotablish and develop competitive edges on tenders/pursuits in order to improve the chances of success.
Participate and/or lead commercial/contract negotiations for Sub-trade “Buy-out” on secured projects; in conjunction with the production team.
Review project plans and specifications and coordinate with the team to confirm the complete scope.
Evaluate and develop construction rates, subcontract cost estimates, and proposals
Review designs and specifications for cost-effectiveness; provide recommendations for alternates
Proactively handle construction-related questions from sub-trades and suppliers
Review of completed estimates vs. the estimates for improvement of accuracy of future estimates
Participate in estimate/project handover meetings with Operations.


Requirements:

Minimum 3-5 years experience in construction estimating
Knowledge of varying construction contracts
Understand the makeup of general contractor general expenses
Computer estimating experience SAGE Estimating Module 300
Demonstrated organizational and communication skills (written, oral, interpersonal)
Ability to lead by example and set a standard of professionalism
Proficiency with computers (SAGE Estimating Module, Microsoft Office, Timberline)
Has his/her own PC or laptop and backup, stable internet connection
Amenable to work full time, PST Vancouver time
