About the role:

The Accountant is primarily responsible for the day-to-day Finance processing to meet deliverables relative to Bank reconciliations, Accounts Payable, and Receivable. Liaising with third parties regularly and communicating with all departments of the business, the role will have remote support to Mad Mex teaUpgrade to see actual infombers. This role assists the Financial Controller to carry out key Finance projects and new initiatives in the business.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Bank Reconciliation

- Ownership of the weekly banking reconciliation process within the business
- Ensure all accounts are reconciled on a weekly/monthly basis (25-30 accounts)

2. Account Receivable

- Prepare monthly invoices for royalty & marketing fee income to the network, and schedule direct debit on a fixed term
- Prepare sales invoices e.g. Franchisee on-charge, wholesale, rebates, etc.
- Keep debtor days within the business’ agreed-on KPIs and follow up with outstanding invoices
- Distribute monthly statements

3. Accounts Payable

- Liaise with outsourcing payable company for the management of all AP
- Ownership of the weekly pay run
- Ownership of the weekly supplier statement reconciliations (15-20 suppliers) and follow-up with variances
- Ensure all AP is paid on time and accurately

4. Reporting

- Assist with Period End tasks
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Assist with Annual Audit

5. Visibility for Performance

- Ad hoc projects as designated by the CFO and Financial Controller that will assist the improvement of Finance processes and provide the business with insights and actionable analysis
- Initiate special reports to assist the Management team in achieving their goals and objectives


Qualification and Experience:

- Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar role (hospitality preferred)
- Qualifications in accounting/business / commerce, CA/CPA qualified / partially qualified
- Experience in ERP systems (Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics Navision preferred)
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workload in a busy environment
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills (including XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, PIVOT TABLES, QUERY, etc.)
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Australian payroll experience is preferred but not required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to work autonomously
- Career progression, eager to learn and adapt to new areas of the department
