Mug Designer

Hi! (Please read description in its entirety to fully understand the position before applying.) I have an Etsy shop where I primarily sell coffee mugs via dropshipping. I research mugs currently for sale and find designs that are selling well. I then create my own version of the designs/theme and list them for Upgrade to see actual info my business, the goal is less about creating the perfect, most beautiful design, but about creating MANY designs in order to list those mugs for sale and learn which of my designs end up selling well.

After finding winning designs, I expand and begin selling those mugs on Amazon and other marketplaces. So, while the quality of the designs does matter, quantity matters as well. To get a better understanding, even if I list 50 mugs, I may only find 1 design out of that 50 that sells well. And therefore, I want to focus on volume of designs I have available for sale.

With that being said, I’m looking for someone who is creative and can come up with unique (yet simple) designs while also understanding that it’s a numbers game and therefore can work quickly without over-analyzing a design they’re creating.

I currently create the designs and primarily use Canva. (I’ve also used the app WordSwag in the past to create designs in under a minute!) I don’t have a graphic design background, but understand the marketplace of who I’m selling each type of mug to and therefore what kind of design might draw attention. I’d consider myself creative, but I don’t have any vast photoshop experience or anything like that. And even so, I’ve created designs that sell! So, if you can relate to me, this opportunity might be up your alley.

If you DO have graphic design experience and/or use photoshop or other more advanced graphic software, I am open to your application as well, as long as you understand the role as described above and are okay with creating quick designs without much nuance.

Each design should take you around 5-7 minutes to create. 10 minutes max. Some designs will be super simple such as a quote and you’re just choosing a font! I currently have a VA who does all the design research and uploads the design to my Etsy shop for sale. All you’ll be responsible for is accessing the spreadsheet where the original designs that are selling well are linked for you to see. You’ll then create a new design and (if using Canva), copy the link to it and paste it in that same spreadsheet for my VA to then upload to Etsy for sale.

This is a freelance position where your hours will vary, but we'll aim for you to put in 5-7 hours of work a week to begin with, and gradually increase your hours if all goes well and as you get the hang of it. I have hopes of this being a long-term, part or full time position with more guaranteed hours eventually (sooner rather than later!).

I will provide training videos and be available for every little question you have! This position is largely impactful to my business, as the designs are what brings in revenue! So you’ll be a VIP! :) Excited to hire!
