Job Description

*** THIS IS A FULL-TIME POSITION, AND IS AN ON-SITE WORK ARRANGEMENT
1. Proactively monitors the database systems to ensure that available and secure services are provided to IT customers with a minimum of downtime.
2. Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of SQL development.
3. Creates, maintains, and tests backup and disaster recovery plans.
4. Responsible for the maintenance of the databases including rollout and upgrades.
5. Responsible for implementation and release of database changes.
6. Provides trend analysis to the management team enabling them to make informed decisions regarding resources.
7. Develops sufficient knowledge of the current IT applications and technology such that solutions meet the division’s objectives.
8. Acquires knowledge of emerging technologies to analyze and offer solutions to current business application challenges.
9. Develops and enforces division’s IT application standards.
10. Strong knowledge of how NoSQL technologies interact and complement
11. Advanced knowledge of various troubleshooting tasks (ex. Latency Analysis, Thread state Analysis, etc.)
12. Knowledge of installation and configuration procedures.
13. Knowledge of add/bootstrap nodes to clusters
14. Knowledge of remove/replace nodes in clusters
15. Knowledge of replication/partitioning/clustering between data centers
16. Good team player.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on database projects.
2. Ability to manage internal and external MS SQL database security.
3. Strong analytical, organizational, documentation and communications skills.
4. Ability to work in a dynamic, deadline-oriented environment.
MINIMUM LEVEL OF PREPARATION AND TRAINING NORMALLY REQUIRED:
1. A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.
2. 3-5 years of experience in developing windows and/or web-based SQL applications.
3. 1-3 years of experience in a database management role.
4. Experience managing multiple Microsoft SQL 2005/2008 on large systems.
5. Practical experience in monitoring and tuning databases.
6. In depth, hands-on experience with Transactional SQL, and stored procedures.
7. In depth SQL server database administration experience.
8. Microsoft SQL server certification is preferred.
