JOB OVERVIEW

Hello, my name is Ty and I run an eCommerce store in Magento. We sell parts and equipment. I'll tell you the industry we are in during the interview process.

This is not a fly-by-night, dropshipping business that was just created because some Facebook ad told me I could get rich running a Shopify store :)

We've been around since 2009, and besides myself, we have 3 other people that help support the store (I explain their roles at the bottom of this document).

As you review the job description below, please know that we welcome any questions you may have about the position or our team!

This posting is for an audition. We will be selecting 3 candidates to hire for a test project. After seeing your work and then conducting a short, follow up interview, we’ll choose the new person for our team!

I would like to hire a person to help me manage page content, the catalog, and promotions for the website.

Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Salary is negotiable and based on experience, variety of skill set. I'm thinking a range of 40,000 to 60,000 PHP per month would be appropriate.

I am located in the Midwest of the United States, on Central Time. I don't necessarily need you to work USA hours. I think it's probably better for your health if you work closer to your daytime hours. It would be nice if we had some overlap of hours though, so we can discuss tasks and projects on a daily basis.

Very quickly, let me say that…

-You will NOT be doing order fulfillment
-You will NOT be doing customer service
-You will NOT be writing articles or product descriptions
-You will NOT be doing Magento web development

But you WILL support our efforts to…

-Grow and keep the catalog up to date
-Research and understand our customers better
-Increase traffic
-Improve conversion rate
-Promote the right products to the right people

///*** Qualities You Should Have ***///

You should be a techy person with a well-rounded skill set, sort of a "jack of all trades". You should be comfortable with computers and on the web, experienced with different software, maybe you even have some experience with some web design and development (i.e. HTML, CSS, JS or WordPress perhaps).

Basically, if you're comfortable with computers and technology, then finding your way around Magento and learning how to do new things shouldn't be a big learning curve for you.

If you struggle with conditional formatting in Google Sheets, have no idea how to grab a GA script and add it to the footer, and have never used some sort of drag-and-drop page builder, please don't apply.

By the way, most of your work on the website would be within Magento's admin system - creating new pages, adding text/images/links, managing the menu, etc.

Any true web development like upgrading the Magento software and extensions, code fixes, and adding new features, will be handled by the freelance Magento developer we contract with.

Some experience with eCommerce platforms such as Magento, Shopify, WooCommerce, etc

- Adding customer surveys to the website
- Adding text and images to blog posts, category pages and products (written - content would be provided to you from our writer)
- Interlinking pages to other pages
- Updating the home page with seasonal promotions, featured categories
- Creating promotional email drafts (I would review and send)
- Creating coupons for customers
- Researching products and recording data into a spreadsheet
- Adding, editing and deleting products
- Adding attributes and values to products
- Adjusting the default sort to product categories
- Adding new sub-categories
- Working with the mega menu
- Downloading chat transcripts

-We have an office manager who helps manage day-to-day issues, bookkeeping and some admin work.

Magento Developer
-We have a freelance Magento developer whose job it is to maintain the site, keep the software and extensions updated, and help me implement new features.
