FULL TIME COPY EDITORS NEEDED

Develop your professional career working for a premium fast paced American news company.

We are looking for a COPY EDITOR who can maintain the highest quality of writing for our websites. The Copy Editor is expected to review all articles written by writers before publishing any article on the websites. He or she is expected to work closely with the Human Resources Director to evaluate whether a writer is able to write quality articles or not. He/she must have a strong understanding of journalism / news.

The copy editor is expected to:
• check text to ensure it is well written and logically structured, ready for publication
• correct grammar and spelling
• ensure the text is in line with the publisher's 'house style'
• check facts and raise queries with the author
• being alert to any potential legal problems in the text, such as libellous statements or breach of copyright, and discussing them with the publisher
• check for plagiarism - Plagiarism is ABSOLUTELY NOT tolerated.
• check illustrations/photos and captions are correct, check copyright issues for photo usage
• edit minimum 30 articles per day and write articles when needed
Poorly written articles should never be posted.

Copy editors must have:
• excellent written English, including good spelling and grammar
• a meticulous approach to their work and an eye for detail
• the ability to maintain high-quality work while meeting tight deadlines
• a love of and feel for the English language
• good concentration, to focus on texts that may be dull
• judgement in applying "house style"
• a tactful approach when dealing with authors
• the ability to retain the author's 'voice' after editing.

Candidate will work from Wednesday to Sunday at 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST.

Compensation:

- $600 USD
- Pay is every 13th and 27th of the month through paypal.
