We are a fast paced American news company looking to establish a large editorial team of 50 writers in the Philippines. We need a capable, reliable, responsible human resource director who can communicate with the U.S. headquarters and oversee the Philippines workforce.
We are looking for a Human Resources Director /Operations Manager who has experience in interviewing, hiring, firing and forming/managing large teams (of 50 + writers and editors) He/she must have a strong understanding of journalism / news in order to recruit for top quality Filipino writers and editors.
The editorial team he/she will build must be fluent well versed in American style English providing top quality articles with high traffic. Poorly written articles will not be accepted or published by our site. The HR manager must develop a good system to maintain the highest quality staff and weed out the staff who plagiarize or do not contribute to our brand in a positive way.
Plagiarism is ABSOLUTELY NOT tolerated.
Your responsibilities as a FULL TIME HR Director / Operations Manager is to:
-Post job postings for available staff positions (editors, copy editors, writers, social media marketing staff)
-Recruiting and staffing logistics; sort through and review resumes, check references and identity, conduct interviews, writing tests, etc.
-Performance management and improvement tracking systems (article standards and traffic especially);
-Staff development and training logistics
-Company staff communication;
-PTO administration and recordkeeping; keep track of staff absence requests
-Provide weekly reports of the Philippines team progress towards goals set (obtain weekly reports from editors on their teams and summarize for headquarters)
-Encourage and push staff towards goals
-Research ideas to best push towards goals for the company operations in Philippines especially how to gain traffic.
-The Human Resources manager helps with the implementation of policies; reports to the supervisor; meet staff in the nearby area once in a while.
-Edit and proofread articles if needed
-Any other HR / Operations matters that is needed as we grow
Desired Skills and Expertise
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team.
Minimum three years HR experience / Operations officer experience
Experienced in managing large teams of over 50 staff
Typing skills with at least 50 WPM.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office software (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with others.
High degree of discretion dealing with confidential information.
Ability and willingness to work some early mornings and evenings
-Base salary will be $1000 US dollars per month
-Base salary will increase as traffic goals of the entire team are met.
