We are a lean team with scant technical expertise needing to build out a Wordpress ecosystem to manage several aspects of our business. For the past year, we've been experimenting with a system called Nationbuilder (we were really looking for a sort of 'one ring to rule them all' system that would do our CRM, sales and membership management,

We'd like to hire a few candidates for a short exploratory engagement; reviewing our requirements (happy to schedule a chat to answer questions) and making recommendations on how to move forward. We want to know what plugins and/or external systems you recommend to meet our needs, what kind of integrations are available to link the systems we're looking at & how closely coupled they are, where we will need custom development to meet our needs, etc.
Here are some details about our current setup and our needs:
We have a paid membership program and need to:
1. have a membership signup function (see the "become a member" flow on our nationbuilder site), where users can create a profile and pay, with several different options for payment amounts, and two different membership types
2. allow members to log in to the site and access content behind a paywall
We currently use MemberPress; it's been okay, but small things like the password reset function have never worked properly.
We syndicate (mostly through iframes) our Global Events Calendar & our Impact Accelerators Map (
1. Visitors (not just paying members) need to be able to contribute events to the Global Calendar
2. The filtering and searching is really important; it's been fine, but not great in Events Calendar Pro (plus the custom dev that's been added to that plugin)
We need:
- Events management (we do monthly calls for our members; want to be able to advertise them to the general public, collect RSVPs and ideally easily be able to
- Better, more elegant filtering and searching on the facilitation encyclopedia and best practice database
- A searchable/filterable membership directory we can put behind the paywall that includes a profile that our members can edit about themselves.
- A searchable/filterable speaker directory (also behind the paywall) but accessible to speakers who can log in to edit their own profiles
We're considering using:
- Mailchimp for all our
- Pipedrive for sales management and possibly CRM
- Asana for project management
- Slack for team communications (would be great if membership signups, etc. generated slack messages)
- Medium for blogging
We'd also love to find:
- a really well integrated podcast/audio blog platform
