Project Manager Wanted for Local Newspaper (Full or Part Time)

We are looking for a talented project manager to help us put together our newspaper. Our newspaper focuses on local and national news and also includes sections focusing on health & wellness, real estate, schools and food & wine. Our goal is to bring out the best features of the community and to bring the community together.

The position involves the following:
• Sending our newspaper designer articles, photos and ads to place in the newspaper along with notes on where they should be placed.
• Getting to know the different sections of the paper and understanding where each article should be placed
• Reviewing the paper for accuracy and correcting mistakes
• Making sure that each page looks good
• Making sure that the paper is running on time and will be completed by the printer’s deadline

We are looking for someone who has the following qualifications:
• A good eye for design – doesn’t have to be a designer but must know what looks good and what doesn’t and have a sense of style.
• Strong attention to detail
• Must speak & write English well
• Strong communication skills
• Works well with deadlines and understands priorities
• Is very organized
• Able to work independently
• Interested in news and learning new things
• Interested in learning about other cultures

On Monday morning we start working on the newspaper by sending the designer the ads and the 1st batch of articles. Then for the rest of Monday and Tuesday we send the designer more content and ads until the newspaper is Upgrade to see actual info usually takes 10-12 drafts to finish the Upgrade to see actual info starts with the 1st draft which often is pretty empty and then we send more articles and ads and make corrections until everything is perfect. The newspaper needs to be finished and sent to the printer on Tuesday night.

Hours
This can be a full-time or part-time job – the choice is Upgrade to see actual infovolves working US eastern standard time hours. Mondays and Tuesdays are very busy days and the rest of the week would be normal hours. If you prefer a part-time job you can chose to work only on Mondays & Tuesdays. If you want a full-time job you can work the whole week.
