Senior Systems Administrator position

Full time position for a technology company located in Toronto, Canada established in 2004. Opportunity for performance based bonuses. Shift is flexible (could be one block, example 11am to 7pm EST Toronto time, or a shift divided into two segments).

You will be expected to be a self-starter, problem-solver and able to review documentation or source code and learn new technologies as part of the job. We are already operating and familiar with all of these technologies.

Requirements
Proven experience as a Linux System Administrator
Experience with databases, networks, and web services
Ability to do casual programming in Perl, Python, Ruby, or other scripting languages
Working understanding of VoIP service administration (ie. Asterisk, Freeswitch, PBX)
Familiarity with Ubuntu and Debian Linux
Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
BSc/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional certifications are a plus
Use of Time Doctor time management software is a requirement

Technical Expertise
• Six or more years of experience in systems administration, network or infrastructure applications administration experience
• Ability to do web-based frontend, backend, or REST API software development is a winning combination and opens up many stimulating project opportunities
• Experience as PostgreSQL server admin and with understanding of replication techniques (MySQL experience will be considered)
• Ruby on Rails server administration experience is a big asset
• Experience with telecommunications and VoIP including SIP, Asterisk, Freeswitch and Kamailio/OpenSIPS is a big asset
• Experience setting up and administering an automated billing system is a big asset
• Experience with virtualization technologies is required and familiarity with open-source technologies including OpenVZ, KVM, and Proxmox VE is desirable
• Experience with web service and VoIP proxies or load balancers is desirable
• Automated backup administration, documentation and best practices
• LAMP web server setup and administration
• Software Deployment Automation Tools: Disk Imaging, Patch/Software Release Management, Asset Management, System Monitoring
• Strong with TCP/IP protocol, firewall, security and firewall
• Switch administration experience is a plus (we use Force10)
• University or college degree/diploma in technology related program – preferred
