Crimpr (Upgrade to see actual info) is a crowdsourced mapping application (web and mobile) for outdoor rock climbing. Climbers all over the world can upload climbing locations and share new routes they build. Users can find, explore and navigate to new climbing spots with the app.

We are a startup looking for a developer to implement our prototype starting immediately. You will build a modern web application from scratch using agile methods, microservices, APIs and mapping tools.

The position is remote, but you should be based somewhere in Metro Manila to be in touch with our local partners. You can work from anywhere which means that you have to be perfectly communicative and responsible for the work you deliver.You are encouraged to be pro-active and define this project with us. We are applying agile meaning there will be weekly sprints and daily remote standups with the product owner. The position is a full-time temporary position of 3-4 months but could extend into a long-term employment. Working hours are normal 9 to 5, 5 days a week (40hrs/week).

Candidate must possess at least Bachelor's/College Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.
Work remotely, full-time preferably, from Monday-Friday
Commercial working experience in Ruby on Rails(at least 4 years is a MUST, 4-5 is ideal)
Required language(s): Fluent in English
Required Skill(s): Ruby/Ruby on Rails, postgres, JavaScript, jQuery, responsive design, HTML5, CSS, mySQL, OOP and TDD
Knowledge of microservices architecture and openstreetmap is an advantage
Preferably 1-4 Yrs experienced freelancer specialised in IT/Computer - Software or equivalent.
Knowledge of agile methodology and translating business requirements into software solutions
Proactive, organised, disciplined and self-motivated as work is remote
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
If you are an outdoor rock climber or outdoor sports enthusiast, you definitely have an advantage.
Responsibilities

Build a modern web application from scratch, full-stack
Collaborate with designers and mobile developers as well as clients directly to improve the product
Be creative and fully in charge of architecture, software development, testing, debugging
Work autonomously, but also improve your software skills through occasional code review and pairing
