ABOUT US: We’re an Australian-based resume writing company with a great reputation and an excellent track record of success. We have a small and loyal team of brilliant writers, including PI-based staff, who have been with us for several years, but we’re growing and need more help.
ABOUT YOU: You are an outstanding Writer who can perform to strict deadlines and write a 2 -3 resumes a week, as well as being able to handle any ad hoc copywriting tasks that are handed to you.
- You have at least 3 years’ writing experience.
- You are extremely well-organised with an eye for detail.
- Exceptional written English skills.
- Impeccable grammar and literacy.
- You never miss a deadline.
- You are comfortable working alone on projects and like to move ahead, use your initiative to get things done without someone checking on you every step of the way, and you like finding new ways do things quicker and smarter.
- You are not afraid to ask for help when you don’t understand something or need more help or time.
- You are looking for a long-term opportunity (all of our staff outside of recent recruits have been with us for more than 3 years - we'd love our next new joiner to be long-term too).
DAILY DUTIES:
The easy things:
- Setting up and laying out resumes following our house style.
- Copying client details into documents.
- Copying and transposing client responses from client notes, worksheets, their old resumes and intake questionnaires into the new document.
- Fact checking of resumes – ensure company and educational institution names are correct according to publically available information
The not so easy things:
- Understanding and interpreting clients responses and turning their words into clear and concise evidence-based outcome statements.
- Must be able to take client statements and create results-based statements applying the CAR formula (Challenge – what was the problem the client had to resolve or the challenge that they faced? Action – What action did the take to overcome the challenge and why? Results – What was the outcome of the action they took?)
- Must be able to write compelling and engaging statements about clients work experience
- Must be able to research various career options and interpret clients aspirations and target roles so as to position them as the ideal candidate for the jobs they seek.
- Other ad-hoc writing tasks as required
PLEASE NOTE: You do not need to have experience in resume writing, however, an interest in a wide variety of job types, a desire to genuinely helping job seekers get the jobs they want with brilliant resumes and a willingness to learn on the job and learn from mistakes and best is valued. We are happy to train the right person.
WORKING HOURS:
Monday to Friday, 10:30 AM - 6:30 PM Australian Eastern Standard time (Sydney). (+3 Hr ahead of PI). Please note that this is a full-time, dedicated role and it is our expectation that the post holder is not working for multiple employers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Undergraduate degree (journalism, marketing, communications or similar preferred)
- 3 years' experience in a similar role
- Excellent written English skills (no verbal client contact required)
- Advanced Microsoft Word Skills
- Must have own Laptop / PC, reliable power, reliable internet connection, and phone.
DESIRABLE:
- Any design experience and a creative eye which can translate into creating distinctive word templates will be an advantage.
REPORTING AND ACCOUNTABILITY: 3-month probationary period. Reporting into the Managing Director.
Month 1 – Daily Face-to-Face
Month 2 – Twice-weekly
Month 3+ – Weekly Face-to-Face

• Any suggestions on what we can do improve things, or do faster?
• Anything I need to respond to?
IMPORTANT: Reliable internet and own PC required. Must have Microsoft Word. TimeProof will be used for monitoring purposes while we learn each others working style. Start date ASAP.
IN RETURN WE ARE OFFERING:
• Full-time hours
• Fortnightly pay (1st and the 14th of each month)
• Compensation review at 12 months
